Cut out animation

Today I started working to create my own cut out animation. I looked through various of magazines to find out images which would look best in my animation and cut them out and put them together.

Cut out animation

South Park
Montage showing the stages of an animation process: On top, a simple black and white sketch of a male child in a rocket kiddie-ride, while another young child stands next to the ride and reluctantly holds the rider's hand. In the middle, stock animation characters reflecting the sketch shown at top, sans background characters. At bottom, a screenshot of a fully animated frame showing the same event, complete with characters and arcade games in the background

The style of the animation used in South Park is inspired by the paper cut-out cartoons created by Terry Gilliam in his series 'Monty Python's Flying Circus' of which the creators of South Park were huge fans of. Construction paper and traditional stop motion cutout animation techniques were used in the original animated shorts and in the pilot episode. Episodes after this started to get produced by computer animation. Before computer artists began animation a series of storyboards were created.

The various stages of production (from top to bottom): the storyboard sketch, the CorelDRAW props with stock character models, and a frame from the fully rendered episode in Toon Boom are provided by the show's storyboard artists.[45][72]

Cut out animation

Matt Groening

Matt Groening is the legendary creator of popular shows such as The Simpsons and Futurama. Matt Groening is said to make over 385 billion dollars from all the sketchers he has created.

The shows humour covers a wide spectrum so that viewers from all generations can enjoy it.

Futurama
Another one of his animations also became extremely
popular and has won loads of awards. This animation was recently cancelled but due to it's popularity it was revived and is aiming for the next series to come out later 2012 - early 2013.

Seth Macfarlane

Seth Macfarlane is an american actor, voice actor, animator, screenwriter, comedian, producer, director and singer. He is best known for his animated series called Family Guy and American Dad. Seth Macfarlane makes over 2.4 million a year.

Family Guy

Another award winning animation it started out being unpopular and was going to stop running after the third season but due to high DVD sales and public demands they started running it again. The program has a parental rating and in some cases TV-14 because of it's adult content and slapstick humour. In most cases they have one speaker who performs more than one of the characters roles so this will save them more money. This program has began selling a series of merchandise with is allowing them to obtain even more money from the series.

American Dad

American dad has aired 136 episodes and had began airing season 8 this year. American dad has been nominated for important awards even though it doesn't have as many episodes out as the other animation shows. Once again like Seth's show Family Guy this has parental guardian rating because of it's strong content.
